One Young World 2020
DAY 1 - Thursday
On 22nd July 2021, we had the privilege to attend the One Young World 2021 Summit to represent the L’Oréal Leadership & Diversity Chair. We were hosted in the beautiful Olympiahalle in Munich, Germany.
We were greeted by esteemed guests including Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, and CEO of Siemens Roland Busch, who both shared their vision and hope for the importance of youth leaders in tackling issues of sustainability and climate change.

Finally, was the much awaited flag ceremony, where Baole She and Asmita Moghe represented their country’s colours as the flagbearers for China and India in front of 800 people live and over a 1000 attendees online. It was a proud and unique moment for the chair, and a beautiful start to the summit!
DAY 2 – Friday
Day 2 kicked off with a keynote from the CEO of BP, Bernard Looney who joined us virtually from London, as he highlighted the critical role that multinational companies have in fighting climate change.
The plenary sessions of the day were on The Climate Crisis and Paris Climate Agreement, as well as Defending Rights and Freedoms both Online & Offline. The day was full of insightful and meaningful speeches, but a special highlight for everyone was when renowned actor Terry Crews joined us live in Munich to discuss the issue of racial injustice.
To end the week, the delegates were graciously hosted at various restaurants around Munich for dinner to network, share our ideas and learn from one another.
DAY 3 - Saturday

The weekend began with an address from the ex-CEO of Siemens, Joe Kaeser who shared his vision on purpose-driven capitalism.
The plenary sessions of the day were on Future Economies, and Preparing for the 4th Industrial Revolution. Throughout the day, we heard from established figures such as Deloitte Global CEO Punit Renjen, Entrepreneur Paris Hilton, Board Member of BMW AG, Ilka Horstmeier, and actor David Hasselhoff.
DAY 4 – Sunday
The final day of the OYW ’21 summit opened with a discussion from Lewis Hamilton who spoke about promoting black opportunity in the racing industry.
We had plenary sessions on Conflict Resolution, and on the very apt topic of COVID-19, Lessons from the Pandemic. We listened to stories and learned lessons from speakers from India and Papua New Guinea amongst others, where their courageous and heroic contributions to their countries inspired everyone.
All good things must come to an end, and we ended off with a beautiful closing ceremony in the BMW Welt, with live music and amazing food! We continued to speak with delegates from around the world, and their conviction and passion to drive change gave us renewed hope and energy after a difficult year for the world.
